Student Explorations of Social, Environmental, and Technical Challenges

VR Demo Day (2023 - now)

Project Demo Day was an event for students who completed the IMSE7137 course and CCHU9056, offering them an opportunity to present their group projects to the broader community to test out their VR application design. Around 100 VR projects with diverse project topics have been shown to the public so far. Each Demo Day successfully drew more than 100 participants who actively engaged with the various VR applications and provide feedback to our students. The positive feedback from attendees contributed to the overall success of the event.

Better Reality Day (2024 - now)

"Better Reality Day" - a showcase of final projects from our innovative course MEDD 8931 on educational design and simulation technology.Throughout this course, our students have dedicated two months to understanding the challenges faced by neurodiverse youth during their transition to the workplace. They have developed innovative VR experiences that enable various stakeholders to better understand and support this transition process.Using design thinking methodology, students began with interviews and empathy mapping, proceeding through multiple iterative cycles to ideate, develop and testing their prototypes. Their approach focused on identifying the right questions before considering technological solutions, ensuring that the final designs truly address the core needs of their users.
