The Kitchen Safety Learning Project (KSL Project) is supported by the Public Sector Trial Scheme of the Innovation and Technology Fund (Ref: ITT/019/22LP). It is a virtual reality simulator providing SEN students with an opportunity to become acquainted with their prospective work environment, which is hard to achieve in traditional classrooms. SEN students will have the chance to immerse themselves in the tasks and challenges they may encounter in the role. Our project also aims to demonstrate that VR-based learning is more effective in kitchen safety learning.

We utilized Depthkit to capture high-quality volumetric video, transforming real-world scenes into immersive 3D experiences. This cutting-edge technology allowed us to record detailed 3D representations of subjects from multiple angles, creating a lifelike and interactive video format. After capturing the footage, we seamlessly imported the volumetric video into Unity, leveraging its powerful tools to integrate the video into a dynamic and engaging virtual environment. This process not only enhances the visual appeal but also offers users a unique and interactive way to explore the captured scenes, bringing a new dimension of immersion to our project.
